HEAP

HEAP provides cash assistance during heating season to help with fuel deliveries or outstanding balances. Contact your local energy assistance office to apply.

Customers apply for Fuel Assistance, and if approved, MEAP may provide a Cash Supplement for their account. Approval is based on household income and the number of people in the home.

There are three levels of assistance:

• Level 1: MEAP sends a Cash Supplement (amounts may be $100, $200, $300, $500, or $1000) to cover back balances or future deliveries after other aid is exhausted.

• Level 2: MEAP and the customer notify us of the approved amount. A letter is attached to the account, and deliveries can be made until funds are used.

• Level 3 (CRISIS): Opens in January, allowing monthly applications for additional funds until state funding is exhausted.

Deliveries can only be made after funds are approved, and they will continue until the assistance is fully utilized.
